Anyone tinker with electric motors like wheelchair drives ?

I would be interested in building a little tracked hiking machine, like a HD scooter. With the new batteries and brushless motors it could be very possible. Lithium batteries don't weigh much.

I can't hike into the places I used to, heck in my 20s in really good shape we had a hard time on those steep trails. Could get around pretty quiet too.

we bought a used electric scooter for my MIL years ago. She never did use it. sat in my garage forever. Bought a pair of new 6v batteries 2 years ago tring to flip it on Kijiji. Still taking up space.
Kinda looks like this one:

Make me an offer on it and it would be a good platform to start your build.

I was thinking a kid size sled tunnel with the running gear as a start, might need boogie wheels, those w/chair motors are $125 last time I looked. They come w/sprocket for bicycle chain, maybe a derailer would work for taller gearing. Twin trac w/2 motors & a controller would be very cool.

I was thinking like 24-30" tunnel 12" wide w/a front and back aluminum posts with holes for attachments a bicycle seat on 1 and set of little bars. hang a pack or a basket on it.
