This is the first year we could see Chartered teams sit out the Duels. Rodney Childers, the crew chief for the 4 car of Kevin Harvick said this weekend that they will take only one car to Daytona as they don’t have a backup car. It’s well known the struggles for teams to get a fleet of cars in their stable to start the season and now it appears it could affect the racing in Daytona this week. Chartered cars are guaranteed a starting position in a race so qualifying is only for a better starting spot.

Tomorrow the race for the Chase starts with Duels and Daytona 500 practice. Wednesday is Daytona 500 single car qualifying for the pole and then the Duels are on Thursday evening.

Truck race Friday evening, Saturday afternoon is the Xfinity opener then the Daytona 500 on Sunday afternoon
