teck just annouced 604 employees company wide will be getting cut

the trend will continue until met and pci prices improve.

willow was the first to go and the rest will follow as it goes. that region has always been a swing producer. only been in the industry 10yrs myself and its allready seen it happen twice.

The long standing mines in the elk valley have the most chance of staying open as they are established, larger coal seams ect.

The best thing for high prices is low prices. it will swing back around. for awhile.

unless you are about 12 years old and or can't remember ALberta and even Fort Mac have had lots of lay offs many times over..been there and seen it for myself.

Sorry to hear about all the job losses, I hate seeing our mining brothers go through these hard times, first in labrador now in tumbler, I hope everything works out for them.
