There were a lot of electrical gremlins on the 11's and 12's too. I would use dielectric grease on all connectors to avoid corrosion on the terminals.

my 11 is going off warranty next December. 2300 km on original motor. I have it headed to the shop for some warranty work (recoil). Is there anything other than compression to indicate pistons are going? I want the shop to look for any sign the pistons might be going.

I think they have some measurement specs on piston vs cylinder, and if it doesn't meet spec they will replace the required parts on warranty. But you might have to pull it apart yourself to avoid paying the shop labour to investigate.

X2! I chased one for a full season on my 12 before I finally found the problem! Replacing the wiring harness with TPS fixed it and 2 days later I sold it!!!

I'd look at a 2013+, lots of problems were finally figured out.

Keep looking - at that price you can find a 13-14 without the issues the 11-12 had.

Guys were buying brand new 2015's at the end of last year taxes in for 10500ish. I would look for a deal like that on a new on before I spent money on a used one. That way you get warranty and the best pro out there.

I have my 2013 for sale at near that price, I'd say the 2011s would be closer to the 6k mark

Maybe I should start looking more southwards haha. A new 800 is 13000+$ here. Everybody is trying to get 10000 for 2012-2014s here.

Forget south with 1.34 exchange. They will be coming here to buy our sleds.

I have contemplated posting mine on SnoWest and hoping it will be a win-win for an american to pick it up..

Yes you should look in Southern Alberta or BC as last year with the piss poor snow many have low kms. Buddy bought a new 2014 for $11000 at start of last season and the prices went lower as the season went on.

Alright I'm going to go look at the sled, shouldn't be no harm in that haha. The owner is down to 7000$ obo, sled sounds like it's in good shape. What would I be looking for compression wise at 2100 feet elevation? I know I should be looking for a cheaper 2013+ but I don't really want to travel outside for a sled
Thanks

If your set on buying close to home and worried about the engine, figure on putting a MNTEK engine kit in it. Cost about $750 and some time. Dont worry about the compression and just do the durability kit. It will bring the engine up in reliability and performance. Everything else will be wear and tear and will be no different if your picking up a 13 or an 11. I think $7000 is plenty for a 2011 but if its a babied unit maybe its worth it. Thats your call. My point here is if its the machine for you its a big issue with the pistons after 1500-2000 miles and engine failures have happen to some but not all. When it does happen it will be a major and not a minor fix. The MNTEK Durability kit is a Must if your concerned about the engine wear. Hopes this helps. I have a 2011 with the kit and its still running strong. I also have 2013 full mod and love it.

Did any of you install your own fix kits? Would you also happen to know the torque specs for the cylinders and head? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mine is a 2012 pro. Using the Bikeman Kit.

I have installed quite a few of them myself. Very easy to do. I believe it calls for same as stock which is 38-46 ft lb. torque pattern is criss cross from the inner bolts to the outer bolts.
