I may re test the newer Zastone A19 when it comes in, and the Gt-3tp, I will throw on the 771 antenna. I have both versions of the GT-3tp available for testing. I just want to see if the newer Zastone has the same ptt switch problem. I may even try out the magnetic antennas and just keep driving down the road until the Zastone fails.

Picked the UVB2 up from the post office this morning. Nothing new including the 8w power output. My meter tests it at 2.4w on LOW and 5.2 on HIGH. My GT3 Mark2 tests 3.3w on low and 5.8--5.9 on high. Does have the 4800mah battery so will be curious to see how that works out. Battery has a charge port built right into it. Standby, rec., and transmit colors are or can be different just like the truck radios. Only benefit to having this might be the 4800mah battery. Programs nice and easy just like all the other Baofengs. User manual is 100% duplicate of B5. Comes in 4 different colors 48 bucks Canadian Saw it for 24 US Just a touch smaller than a GT3 so assume the same size as B5. Curiosity will make me try something else now. ----used a GY561 to test the wattage. Updating this post. I have now done MY test on battery performance. While the 4800mha battery does test "better" its not significantly better but just barley better. I tested it against my new (week old) 1800mah battery In my GT3 MK2. MY test method. Both batteries charged to max. Turn both radios on and set to FM radio Not the best testing methods, but its my way. 1800 was dead at 6am next morning. 4800 was flashing low voltage at 6am next morning. Started the test at noon the day before. Antenna on the Uvb2 is not as good as the Gt3. Had to put a longer antenna on to get FM reception and also had to put it on a window sill.

Isn't there two uv-82 models, a 5w and a 8w version.

Kind of strange, I have 2 identically set up Baofeng uv-5ra+ and one I can set to 169.545 and the other only selects 169.540.

Set parameter 1 - frequency step to 2.5

I find the factory default for this is all over the place between radios.

Update to my testing my UVB2 PLUS. Battery life jumped up to 20 hours on the 4800 mah battery using my test method. So not too bad of a purchase in spite of the low out put wattage. Caper thanks for pointing out my mistake in not posting that I had the Uvb2Plus not the lower wattage unit. Saw similar results on a HAM site of a guy checking out a 15 watt UV9R PLUS. It only put out 7w on high and 5.3 w on med. That model has an 8000mah battery. Guess the manufacturers might be correct when they tell us to drain and recharge batteries three times before using. I have always done this but never tested against anything.

Was crawling around on EBAY today. New news to me. You can now get WIRELESS mikes for some mini truck radios. Wonder if this will take off. Sending unit plugs into existing mike outlet

There are lots of blue tooth wireless mics for mobiles and handhelds. I would think you would need to make sure it would work for whatever model you have especially mobiles. I haven't tried any but would like to know how they would work in the cold for battery life.

OK that Zastone i ordered last week is out for delivery today, i will be retesting this second one for range and working order. My next test will be Zastone handheld against kenwood truck radio. I would not want to bet money on which one is going to win.

I am sure the weather had some effect, the tk-780 could not hear the boafeng after 3k, but the baofeng heard hear the kenwood for 5k. The zastone was 6k out sending and receiving. I have two more test now. Zastone to kenwood and Zastone to Zastone….tomorrow. I know my kenwood reaches out 10-20k truck to truck. Hopefully the zastone to truck does the same.
