The 2nd one is what we used to refer to as a "lead sled". Im not sure if they still do or not.

those guys hate when you call them rat rods! it's a traditional rod, looks like a 29 T-bucket not much that's ratty about it just the paint, and a 49 Merc, I think lead sled still works! now does any body know why it's called a lead sled? :d

They call them lead sleds, cause before bondo and other such fillers came along, they would use lead to fill.

There was a ratrod/bike show in westend of edm today, north of the yellowhead. Some bike shop had open house, then the ratrod groups were displaying there vehicles also.

Some of those rat rods are pretty sweet. I like them more with the tops though

I think that no roof rat rod was pretty friggen cool looking! They both said " the unlucky ones" on the wind shields. that windshield was super low to.. some one will be brushing their teeth for a while.

Oh, and both had 'for sale' signs

PS. Sorry Curtis! Couldn't make it out today. I wish I did though.

Fewer are stupid enough to use lead as a filler***. There's some hardcore after effects the old body guru's are suffering from now. Plus it's longevity kind of sucks... Seen lots of cars come in for their second restoration or with lead filler from previous collisions and you can always point out where the lead is. Either way it's a cool part of automotive history and I love the look of both of these masterpieces.
