Take it to the Pawn Stars, they will know a guy who can tell you all about it.

I would put it on kijiji and make sure people understand that you're trying to figure out the value of it is and may not necessarily sell it. I did this with my grandmothers 1964 Gibson. The response was good and explained the situation to potential buyers and they were all very understanding.
I took it to a reputable person to appraise it. She didn't like the answer. I put it kijiji and the response was a lost exactly what the appraisal was. Unfortunately I couldn't convince her that she had the low end model for that year and with the crazy ruts in the fretboard from her nails, the value wasn't anywhere near what she thought. I would have bought it from her to keep it in the family. If my aunts haven't pawned it yet, it's hopefully under her bed still and it will go to my uncle when she passes.

I think anything like this is only worth what someone is willing to actually pay for it and kijiji is the place to find a buyer.
