2012xp keeps firing into reverse

My buddies 2012 xp etec keeps going into reverse any time it’s rpm drops. Was tough to get it down the mountain today
Anyone run into this?
Moisture in a connection?
Has the little orange startbutton that I think they only had in 2012

Water in switch. Dry/clean out switch and dielectric grease. That was a common problem.

That switch was one of BRP brain farts.

a friend has a 2012 and she sure is a little different than the rest.... XM wasn't ready yet?

Pulled the switch and harness out and dried them out
That year the switch was a weird little orange rubber one that you can’t open up

Hooked it back up and kept going into reverse

Cut and stripped the wire just before the switch and just touched wires to start the sled, and touched them again for reverse. Worked slick all day

Cut open the little rubber start switch and all the pieces were worn out and broken
