Turd. Wannabe race car engine in a heavy ass truck that makes very little in the way of low end power with an attempt to compensate via the stupid low first gear in the transmission. The heads on that engine are utterly useless for developing low speed power. No 6 liter engine that is producing 360 HP needs a head that flows over 300 cfm on the intake side out of the box. Even the older 6 liters with cathedrals have more flow than they need..... The L92's are okay for making lots of top end high rpm horsepower...... which is of no use to a 6000 pound truck pulling an 8000 lb trailer....... And there are plenty of naturally aspirated 6 liters out there making 500 horsepower at the wheels with worked cathedral port heads. The L92's would work good on an engine the displacement of an 8.1.......

I ran an 09 LY6 6 liter powered 2500HD for 100,000 kms..... and I would take any of the previous generation trucks with LQ4's over that heap. So in fact I did and I won't buy a GM truck newer than 2007, lol. Stock the LQ4 isn't much fun.... but remove all the restrictions, add 10 degrees of ignition timing from stock ( still runs great on 87 octane fuel) amongst other things and they are a whole different animal.

Tuned the newer ones are better but you can't fix characteristics. Tuning wakes up the top end......and it still lacks low end lugging and pulling power. I would take a Ford 6.2 anyday over a current GM 6 liter if I wanted a new gas pig three quarter ton.

But that's just me.

8.1 died in 2007 with the GMT800 bodystyle..... or lamens term of 07 Classic.

And I have driven over 20 of these trucks since their inception in 2007. Not one drove any differently than the 09 I had.

If you are dead set on one find one with 4.10's in it, and not the usual 3.73's. It's still a turd lol, but it's better. With the 6 speeds .66:1 overdrive you are still only taching around 1800 rpm at 100 km/hr with the stock rubber.

Just like for the Fords I wouldn't even consider a 6.2 gasser Super Duty without 430's in it.... and good luck finding a F250 with those on a lot. A 4.30 geared Ford will tach around 1900 rpm at 100 km/hr with stock side rubber in 6th......

Like BadAss69 has said for the f250 6.2 ford. Had one and ordered it with the 4:30 gears. Great truck and never did a think to it in 100000 kms. With the 6 speed they pull like crazy for a gas rig and not that bad on fuel.

Do you need a 2500 truck? I have a 1500 Chevy 4wd with a 6.2L . The fuel cost is great 13.5L per 100km @ 125kmh. It pulls my 9300lb trailer and I get 22.5l per 100km. If you don't need a 3/4 ton truck don't have one. This truck pulls like a freight train. My buddy has a Ford 2500 with a 6.2L its hard on fuel. We have pulled together camping and he can't get away from me, And he burns more fuel. Although wind does not push him much. only my 2 cents worth..

Not sure on every truck but my 08 6.0L with 4.10s gets around 16mpg empty sometimes more or less depending on wind but it's not terrible
Depends on what you want out of a truck I guess. diesel is the way to go if it suits your lifestyle

i have a 2010 gmc 2500 6.0 with 133,000km km on it now and its been flawless. I have'nt had a single problem but it is hard on fuel. I pull a 24' hoilday trailer that weighs ~5000lbs dry and the truck has lots of power to pull it when its loaded up but it does like higher rpm's and it really sucks the fuel. I will buy an eco boost for my next truck. My brother has one for a work truck and it gets awesome mpg and will blow the doors off my 6.0L. i was never a ford fan untill he got that truck.

I have a GM 2500HD 6.6 DMAX atm, and a Chev 2500 6.0L gasser. 6.0L Pulls great, and really not so bad on fuel as I figured. No comparison of course to the 6.6 diesel, but always worked VERY well for me.

i need a 2500 because I hual 2 sleds on a sled deck pretty much every weekend to fernie or other bc areas, also have a 28 foot snowmobile trailor that is pushing around 10000 pounds loaded right up but dont pull it often. Have a dump trailor to with a bobcat that a 1500 cant pull. Wish i could get away with a 1500 i would be looking at a raptor but cant with the trailors.

My 2500 gasser is for sale cheap as the trans mount is cracked from over torquing while installing :(

Thanks for the offer but I'm gunna go with a diesel. Ya the snowmobile trailor doesn't get used alot only for long trips but my dad has a duramax I can take pretty much whenever but cant get over how slow the 6.0 was, coming from a dodge 5.9 cummins. I new there would be a difference but nothing like it was !!!

Diesels are the ticket for any type of pulling, good choice
