I have had my 10 Chev 1500 4wd w/6.2L 1 year now. I love this truck no problems. I have dual fuel gas and propane. The power is awesome and fuel econ great 23.5 mpg on gas and 22.8 mpg on propane. Our fuel in Fort St John is 1.339 for mid grade and .669 for propane. I fill only once every month for gas ( burning gas only on start ups ) for 20.00 bucks. I am not letting gas prices get me down.. Yesterday we went to the mountains I burned $81. and buddy in his dodge burned $135.00 same dist. :):)

How are you converting you truck? Do they have any update to the systems or still using the same old 1980's technology?

The system is a Prins Propane Injection. It starts on gas and runs until the temp of the engine warms up to 40c then switches to propane. Propane has 105+ octane the new engines run higher compression. This makes propane work way better than the older systems, Plus injecting the fuel under pressure and only giving the cyl. asking for fuel getting fuel. This saves on fuel wasted. I have had this system on my 05 GMC 5.3L and ran it 103000km removed the system and installed it on my 2010 Chev. No complaints. The only problem I have is my buddys bugging me about burning BBQ fuel. They don't want to know how much it costs to go some were, But they want to come with me to share the cost on fuel.:):)

:d:d I have a manifold tank set....one tank is 12in X 60in the other tank is 12in X 48in the tanks are tie together by piping look on Sleegers tanks online you will see what I mean. The tank holds 145L @ 80%....The tank set fits in the front of the box and I fill under the rear bumper.

Does propane still eat intake valves and seats like in the older vehicles, back in the day valve recession was common.

Yes, But only on the GM's. The Ford's and the Dodge's no problems. We have done Ford Crn Vic 4.6 L 600,000KM on a cab. We use an oiler on the intake manifold. With an oiler on a GM we have seen them go over 100,000KM, With the heads done we have seen them go over 300,000KM. We have only just started to use the oilers. I have one on my 6.2L. GM has poor heads even on gas, Propane just speed them up some. Our gas just went up to 129.9 a lt today in FSJ.:d:d

No you can't use the old systems on a 99 454. We have done those engines using the Prins system. No valve problems at all. The older systems would eat up valves due to those older systems would run richer the more the system would wear (that is why when you saw them worn out the mixture screw was turned in to lean them out) Now the new systems only give fuel to the cylinder that asks for fuel. The propane system only does what the gas asks it to do. The cost seems high until you drive and have to add fuel. I drove from FSJ into Hassler pulling a trailer with sleds on and returned for 81.40 to fill up my buddy went the same distance driving on gas he put 120.00 in Chetwynd the another 35.00 in FSJ too top up. now you see the savings. Gas here is 123.9 for gas and .669 for propane this is as of today Mar 14/11......gas did go up to 129.9 Sunday morning then dropped back to 123.9

Dang, that seems like a pretty stellar idea.
There is a place in Calgary that installs the Prin system. Sent off for a quote, will report back here when I hear back.

I work for Neufeld Petroleum and Propane in Fort St John B.C. . We convert for around $4500.00 I can make FSJ to Red Deer on a tank easy. To make the system pay for its self you have to drive and use propane. I talked to one of my customers and he has put 290000km on his 05 GMC 6l and has saved .08 cents a km that is a saving of $23200.00 on fuel and the system costs $4500.00 that is a real saving of $18700.00. Just think of that when you GAS up. We have done cabs here in FSJ putting the system on at 200000km and removing the system at 650000km putting it on another car with only a rebuild on the converter for $150.00 and if the harness is bad we use a new harness at $200.00......Not hard to do the math.....Now these systems are going on the new 6.2l Chevs and 6.2l Fords. Look online for Prins Propane systems or Impco systems.. I would put pics on but I don't know how:confused:.....I will ask my 9 year old grand son to give papa a hand...Pics to come
