My 06 rancher AT got extremely hot recently while pulling a load in auto and now will not move fwd in auto, only in ESP and just shudders in reverse, any ideas????

Sounds to me like a bad angle sensor! Try cleaning up the connection and giving it a go.

Don't know if there is a clutch adjustment on them but it would be in your manual.If there is, drain oil and replace filter then run it up and do the adjustment.Because if it got that hot it is usually clutches that cause shutter.As for not shifting in auto it could be the sensor.
