I built both of mine out of 1"x2", but a friend of mine used 2" square and it works fine. He has no issues with it.

I use a graphite spray lube called molly mist. Doesn't seem to collect dust and dirt to bad.

Maybe look into a Traxxas Stampede. They come in 2wd or 4wd, you can start with the regular motors and upgrade to brushless as he gets better with it. I was pretty sure they were just a waste of money..... UNTIL I GOT THEM !!!. I use front and rear on my sled deck and wouldn't go back. They are fast to put on and haven't had a sled move since I started using them. Well worth the money !!!

The metal cooey clip will fit. I have both a cooey and a sears model and mine fit in either one. I bought mine at western gun parts but I think P&D carries them as well.

My 2012 does the exact same thing. Nothing to worry about, it goes away after first ride.

I bought 2 spring loaded holders from yamaha and then attached them to the support tube under the hood on my 2012. Carry 4 extra plugs and don't even know they are there. Holders were cheap, I thinks $8 each.

I downloaded blueprints online and built a sledlift. It is similar to the ones from PA but I used heavier materials. Also have a chain hoist in the rafters in case I need more height.

I saw one on sled solutions the other day that looked alright. Not sure of make or cost though.

Should have good results from point of view !!. I broke the helmet mount for my contour first trip out last year. I messaged point of view where I bought it from and they sent me another one no questions asked. I didn't have to send the broken one back.
