Hmm, so are these wolves pet wolves with a taste for caribou?
Wolves don't purposely target Caribou. They're incidental prey when they come down lower in elevation to where the wolves are preying on other ungulates in the spring and fall. Caribou don't die in the winter, they get eaten the rest of the year. Yes, mixing of spring and fall habitat between Caribou and other ungulates has been caused by logging, but protecting more habitat without controlling predators will do nothing to help Caribou. Takes 100 years to restore old growth forest. Takes two minutes for a wolf to kill a caribou.
But it's not about Caribou anyway.
