Was putting oil in truck and wondered where the oil in that jug actually came from? Hopefully from Canadian sources. Where do they fill those jugs?

If you can get the right viscosity, one should be able to change oil on yer truck about 20 times for 3.50 right now.

Well i always thought that too but if they are filled out east what would be the logical answer. I personally would feel better knowing it was Alberta product.

I was to the Shell lube oil plant in Brockville years ago for work. They blended stuff there including CT. Place is probably shut down now I bet like the grease plant in Calgary.

My work often involves thermal oil heating systems. The stuff is not so different than engine oil and some of the systems hold multiple tanker loads. The Petrotherm brand comes out of Sarnia.

I also often go to a place in North Van where used motor oil goes to be recycled. That's where your house brand oils come from.

Was to a place not long ago in BF nowhere SK where they built an experimental facility to boil used motor oil which turns a majority of it into diesel. They had big dreams and investors but used motor oil is full of junk and it was hell on equipment.

Doesn't Penzoil advertise that all there oil is derived from natural gas now?

Only lube plant left in Canada is Petro Canada in Mississauga. Owned by Holly Frontier in the US but still operate under the PC brand name. I believe a few lube plants left in the US.

This a very good question and its important that people understand. There are only a few refineries in western Canada. Shell Scotford, Strathcona Suncor?, Esso Strathcona, and Coop in Regina. Feed stock for these most comes from Western Canada obviously.

Most everything else refined in the east is feed stock from you guessed it.. imported oil.

Chevron comes from US, Portland I believe.

There is a lot of sub brands as mentioned above, Pennzoil is owned by Shell.

Agreed, most of these refinery's produce what is consumed locally so lube oils would not be a lucrative market. (Not enough volume)

Burnaby would likely be a large jet fuel supplier
