Hey my nephew just turned 18 loves sledding took him to sicamous last year first time in the mountains he did great no issues with skill level. now that he got a taste he wants a new sled. he around 6'3 260 and growing. he riding a older summit mxz short track I beleieve and he feels for his size it ain't gonna be good enough anymore. he has 4000$ saved up that it that's all. what kind of sled would he like and be best on? he leaning towards a 07 to 09 m1000. bc there is a few in that price range well4000. I thought maybe something a little lighter like a older xp. and info would be great he lives in camrose

His siZe get the longest track available. Very good motors and a capable chassis just wondering if they had clutching issues

M8 all the way for that price point, unless you are willing to put the fixes into an M1000 which will bring you over the price point and into a different league of sled. A 2005/06 rev would be a good option as well. JMO but the early Xp's up until about 2011 are not ideal there was alot of experimenting going on there on BRP's part.

former m8 owner here as well. I to own a doo like firstdoo, and my opionion is exactly the same as his. Id even consider looking at a sled with a few more miles and u could redo the top end. try get your hands on an etec if u could.

If you can pick up a decent 09 m1000 for $4000 buy it. Being 6'3" 260 lbs that sled will have the torque to get that giant around. Good platform to mod later or just leave it stock. I would save for a 3" track first and ride that thing.
