Hey guys looking for some feedback from people who own or at least have spent some time on the Doo Factory Turbo. Will be snow checking something next week.... Basically I’m torn between 175 & 165 Expert, currently riding a 17 850 165 with Racers Edge Rear skid. My concern for the 165 turbo is washing out and being out of control in steeper terrain. I know the 175 will go most anywhere and I would doubt there is washout control issues at that length. I like to think I ride good snow more often than not with the exception of a few spring rides. My hopes for the Turbo is to leave it stock and have it work well while having control and not being an absolute wheelie monster. Any insight on this would be appreciated!

The 175 platform delivers more traction and is a no brainer if ya want to access the most terrain. Check out Muskoka on YouTube. Tried Shady’s 175 turbo I believe. Matt figured it worked very well. The lugs blow cause of train speed. Tracks made for POW not trail.

you have already noted the main points of the 175. This is my first year moving to a 175 vs a 163 turbo setup.... i wont be going back anytime soon. expert package gives great mobility and meanuverability. jumping is not a problem, matter of fact i know can do it at elevation in 3ft deep snow with a lot of speed, first hit. No more ramp building. wash is non existant. holding a line is really easy. button hooks up hill, pull it over and gas... no problems for me. Setup for you and your riding will be the critical part of making it work you or not. The funny factor is huge as your old hills or now nothing and you start looking for stupid hills to play on. Theres always fresh at the top of the stupid hills.

I can't say I've been fortunate enough to have spectacular snow this year on my trips but like Oler I would never buy a 165 turbo sled if a 175 is available. I love my 175 expert T. The days of wheeling up the hill with the ski's 3ft in the air are over for me. I like the stability of the 175 keeping things sane and the flotation advantage it has in deep Revy snow days.

Thanks for the feedback Oler. That’s what I was hoping to hear. I’m thinking that is the direction I’ll be going

Snopro thanks for the feedback, confirms what I was hoping to hear. Another question for you since I believe you used to sell Doo’s... do you feel a 175 is a way tougher resale value than a 165? Don’t see a lot of 175’s up and the ones you do seem
to sit...

165 is definately a better seller but that being I have never had a problem selling any of mine right away and getting good money. I think a 175 turbo will be easier resale than a 175 N/A

im going to play devils advocate here. Ive spent considerable time on all 3 turbo track lengths. I find the 175 is a little on the boring side, it is slow and not nearly as playful as the 165. Granted, MUCH better than the past year models with no turbo and no expert tunnel. That being said there are some folks working with clutching and gearing combos that can certainly narrow the gap between the two. Clearly the 175 will go uphill better in deep snow thats a given and one factor the 165 will not match.175s are in a class of their own, in any brand a 165 will not climb where a 175 goes. They just stay planted. I find the 165 is the ultimate weapon, it will sidehill wherever the 175 will but yes you will have to be a little bit more on the ball as the 175 has more holding power with its length. But this 165 just performs technical maneuvers better and is no slouch. With the limiter on short and your body weight forward it will climb some serious walls. These are things on the 175 you dont have to do though. The 165 will climb and climb until it stops climbing, at which point it will come comletely over backwards with ease. I like this because you can whip it around and try again, or get yourself out of a tight situation fast. The 175 will not do this. CHoose your weapon. Both great sleds but the 165 is the ticket for me, Speed, style and maneuverability.

Maxwell I had my mind made up bud lol... that’s what I’m afraid of on the 175 is being bored on certain days. I wish I could own both but not in the cards. On your 165 Turbos you don’t think there is bad washout? Do you lockout T-Motion on yours or do you run it stock?

Why would you want to slow the sled down?

Once yah learn how to setup a rear suspension than the front end will be tamer. Stiffen up the rear shock on the expert and tighten up the torsion springs. You do not have to run even numbers on the torsion cams either.
Ive ridden the 175 and its a absolute hoot to ride, but I doubt I will own one. Im very happy on my 165. Its not box stock by any means and I prefer my sleds suspension to be valved stiffer.

I do know of one guy who came off a 175 and went to a 165 turbo and hated it, until the suspension was setup better for him, now its much more pleasurable to ride he says.

I had a Boost It kit on my 2017 x165 and absolutely hated it. Worst sled I ever rode. I put HD springs, spring spacers and set the back end up as stiff as I could and it was just wild to ride on anything half steep. I sold it and bought a 175 N/A the next year. The 165's need some kind of a coupled skid in my opinion but then I'm not young anymore and lovin talking to my skis when they are in my face. Lol

I don’t think so no, especially once you lock it out and add the Munster ski stiffeners it’s a totally different machine in sidehill.
