Trail riding - Athabasca to Whitecourt

I am planning to have a family trail ride from Athabasca to Whitecourt.
Has anyone made the trip before? Any recommendations about cabins, trail history, etc.

Hey Skeg our club has a section of that trail from Flatbush West to Coutts River 1/2 way to Swan Hills. We are going out there this weekend to do some work and check out the trail. We will give conditions Sunday night. When is your plan to ride?
1 problem is at the Athabasca River West of Flatbush. Bank has eroded and it dropps pretty steep down to river. Coming up would be very hard down tricky. Locals from Athabasca to Swan Hills and back to Athabasca in 1 day but they ride HARD and Fast. As a family ride I would leave Athabasa and stay overnight in Swan Hills. 180 KM from Athabasca to Swan Hills. Good ride for a family.
