It's probably 20 degrees in your garage. I believe the XP thermostat opens in the high 30s or low 40s. I'm sure when starting at minus 20 there won't be any bars! :frozenmsn:

i have the t state deleted i wonder if this makes a difference.

You have no thermostat at all? Doesn't that make for a long warm up in the parking lot to keep from Cold Seizing on the trail?

Here is some data on temp guage calibration I found on another site:

Take note that the scale is in Celcuis. The scale is on 9 bars.

Normal temp. for 2-strokes should be between T4 and T5 (42-45°C)

Normal temp. for 4-strokes should be between T4 abd T5 (75-78°C)

F <50 50 86 104 140 158 167 176 >194 F (Two Strokes)
T1 T2 T3 T4 T5 T6 T7 T8 T9 (Bars)
C <10 10 30 40 60 70 75 80 >90 C (Two Strokes)
C <45 45 60 75 100 105 110 115 >120 C (Four Strokes)
F <113 113 140 167 212 221 230 239 >248 F (Four Strokes)

The idea behind the thermostat delete is because the MPEM will adjust ignition timing at higher running temps and drop the HP a bit. Have seen some technical data somewhere else last season that actually gave hard numbers.

The stock thermostat opens in the mid 30s so I can't see it affecting the temperatures at the top end of the scale. It might possibly restrict the flow a bit in the systems but that's it.

Also to the best of my knowledge the only adjustment that MPEM makes is at 90C when it retards the timing of the sled into a limp mode because it's over heating.
