Called our local RCMP HQ and the officer who handled the called laughed .... didn't even want to take the tel #'s .... I really didn't give much for his response ...
Seem to me that if anyone on here was "impersonating a government rep from CRA" you'd be charged .... yet these scam artists seem to be able to act with impunity .... I would think that there is a way to trace the call origin & work with teh telecoms but seems like they couldn't be bothered ... I don't buy the "lack of resources BS" answer because they had two officers available locally to escort a spectator from the local council meeting .....
I can't imaging how many fall for the scams and unfortunately its often those who can least afford it ...

If a number isn't in my contacts, I don't answer it. If figure if someone is trying to get in touch with me and it is important, they will leave a message. I then make a decision whether or not to return the call. Stats Canada has been phoning for weeks wanting me to do a survey. WTF is so important for them to keep phoning for that long?

Seems like everyone has a lot of legit call back numbers here. I'm surprised the rcmp states they have no resources for this. It would be nice to see one officer at a desk totally dedicated to following up on our complaints and threatening these bad guys if they don't stop. (Local numbers anyways ) I think the Ethiopia guys would t care. This officer is prob an $80k per year salary. As a tax payer I approve that cost
