We have always used a solar panel on all off our units. Never have battery issues. We have one on the camper at the moment, can't tell you size(not big) I think from Crappy Tire.About $100 I think it was.

Solar is the way to go, keeps the batteries topped up all weekend long. We have been using one for years cant remember the wattage output but have had no issues.
Just remember if you go with a high watt unit you might want to get a regulater as well so u dont fry your batteries.

3 X 18 = 54 Watts Colman solar pannels (from Costco) plus a 7 amp controller with two 6 V batteries and a 500 W generator for 12 V charging in the fall and winter ( or when junior leaves all the lights on for hours at a time ).
