I got all of my wisdom teeth removed this morning. All I got was the local freezing, that way I could drive home myself. I am frozen from my left ear right around the front of my mouth to the back of my right side of my jaw. I took a Tylenol 3, should be an interesting couple of days.... It wasn't bad, listened to my iPod the whole time. He had to break 3 out of 4, but apparently I'm not much of a bleeder.
Anybody else get them yanked lately?
Any horror stories?

Good on you getting all four at once! My dentist only did two at a time, had to break two out as well. It's gonna hurt for awhile, but in no time you'll be sucking again...through a straw that is
Sledderdoc probably has some horror stories...but from the other side of the drill !!!
Good luck, heal fast

i got all 4 in one sitting two, didnt have to break any. one was a bit tight and he asked me what i wanted to do and i said yank on it so he pulled as hard as he could and he got it with his elbow buried in my chest. one side swelled up a bit and i played with the stitches with my tongue and broke them all free, went back to get them removed and hes like they are all gone haha.

HORROR is right - i went afew yrs back to get mine out.
should be a couple hours in the chair. he says,
bring the wife to drive you home he says..

so we go in a 8am..in the chair by 810 am... brought the wife...

had a couple of the little barn pills (which are really good) to "relax you" he says. ya. (*&(*

course had to pay up front....smart on their part..

9.30. hes going out to tell the wife hes never seen nothing like it...
10.15 still in chair!! only got two out... he had to take a break!!! really..
im like a drunk with all the needles and pills just kicking in. just about tore the arm off the chair as the needles were not freezing took about 1.3/4 hours for me to be totally numb!
Never seen nothing like it he says......
at 10.30 i left with the wife, never got the other two out.....
sent me home with lots of pills, and told me to "JUST REST UP"

I had to take 3 days off which i have neverdone before or again...

The long an short of it was i am convinced my jaw was broken. it took about a yr and ahalf to be able to chew on that side...

course at first i thought it was concern on his part when he phoned himself for two days to see how i was doing... then i figured hes afraid of a law suit.

the worst thing was i drove 45 minutes to the next town cause he was suppose to be a "specialist" ya....fml.....

i think it would be like getting your ***lls cut off with out any pain killers....

so i guess that would be classed as a horror story...

I had all 4 ganked in one go. My insurance wasn't going to cover the whole shebang, so I cheaped out and didn't get the total knockout. Worst. Decision. Ever.

I was at work within a day or two, but the tylonel 3's were whooping my ass. I had to take a couple more days off. The T3's ruined me, I had to seek 'alternatives'.

All in all, Im glad they're gone, and don't cheap out on the knockout gas. It's worth it.

I had all four yanked when i was still in high school, then had to have them done again a couple years later as calcium deposits formed(kinda like teeth) and they hurt!!! Was knocked out both times for the operation, thank god.

So far, it hasn't been too bad. My tongue is the only thing that is still frozen, and the T3's are doing their job. I was only in the chair for a little over an hour, and didn't bleed much. I kept the one tooth that wasn't in pieces, it looks pretty gnarly. I still have not had any swelling at all either.

Had mine yanked out in one sitting, only took about 15 minutes total. Very short roots, minimal freezing, didnt need the T3's had fondue that night and worked the next day........ So i guess thats a gooder.

Had all 4 removed but one side at a time. First go-round my cheek swelled up the size of a soft ball with wicked bruising and tons of pain. Other side was not bad at all.

I made an appointment in which I had a cleaning, 3 cavities fixed, and my 4 wisdom teeth pulled, not because I had to have them pulled, but becuase I had a cavity on one and they told me before I had problems with them, that I should get them removed.:(
I'm glad I got 4 pulled at once, because you guys that get a couple done and then go back for the others are $#^$ing crazy!!! To hear them crack, to have him with his knee on your chest and putting so much pressure on you that your head is shaking and he needs a break, and then to have 2 snap, in which the Dentist and the Assitant are running around because they think you may bleed to death, is completely luticrous in my mind, unless you have to get them done.
But at least I didn't suffer and felt totally normal the next day, and even that night after I got them out still went and watched the Edmonton Rush play. The only time I felt rough, is when the freezing started coming out, that's the one and only time I took the Tylenol 3's.:(:(
