We have Both a rough cut and a finishing mower. The rough cut is exactly as its called, rough. You'd be better off with a sickle mower for doing rough work. The finishing mower is terrific!

I just moved from a flail mower (barrel with rotating chains with blades on the ends) to a rough cut. It was becoming a maintenance nightmare but worked much better and I totally miss it. Be sure any large mower has a clutch and not just a shear pin in case it jams.
