2010 800 Questions

Bought a 2010 Switchback 800 with about 1000 miles. I am well aware of these engines going down and so on, but am also aware of various solutions. The sled is fully updated and is running good. Starts well, no bogging, no problems so to speak. I do have a few questions as there are some conflicting ideas on what to do.

1. When the motor goes, is it usually just a piston or cylinder or does it take out the bottom end as well?

2. Plan on doing a pms fix kit from mttk. I have a stock engine, low altitude (under 2200 feet) and no plans of performance modifications. Mttk recommends the fix kit and the 08 flash or the april 10 flash without a programmer whereas some guys say you need a programmer. Whats the verdict? Can i still get previous flashes at the dealer or only the latest one?

3. Anybody with any real miles on one with a fix kit. Most reports are from under 1000 km which I don't consider that much. Anyone with 3000 MILES or more?

Thanks
