Good advice above would it not be a good idea to check ignition timing first then do a setup?

It can't hurt. I can't remember the spec. I'm sure it can be googled to find out. It should be between 25-40 degrees BTDC

I think it had a problem with the external voltage regulator. Engine still runs fine not sure if the head is making power or not. It's cira 1970's.

Guy was supposed to come and grab it , but that was three months ago.

If it's still here April first it's yours for a big case of beer.

The engine was just built buy PSI and put together Polar Industrial.
It was commissioned on propane .

I assume they did the timing.

They said I just had to trim the fuel but I didn't like the procedure they gave me to set it as they said to trim based on egts.

On a n/a engine lowest vacuum= throttle plate wide open. A balled out engine at max load. Highest vacuum= throttle plate at idle with no load. If you run the engine at it's leanest with low manifold vacuum, when additional load comes on you will lose RPM and go down on underspeed. An exhaust analyzer wouldn't do you any good unless you know what the o2% is for that engine. In any case they would be super rich in the range of .5% o2

Yep, my mistake in putting it in words. Adjust load screw to highest vacuum.
