My Son hammered out wrist pin with punch OMG

I was at work so my son took out the wrist pin with a hammer and punch! How can I tell if he bent the connecting rod without removeing it?? Poor guy feels bad about that Many thanks

ouch if the rods not bent the bearing is shot put piston top centre try to move back and forth then put a small rod with out threads in top hole of rod bring down on top of engine and see if it sits flat

should be no problem, do it all the time, depends on how hard he was hammering it. shouldn't hurt the rod, but could damage the bearings if he didn't support the rod from sidewise movement. if in doubt put a straight edge on rod. unless he was really hammering on it, you should be fine.

ps he did take the circlips out before hammering?

Dont know how hard he was hitting it, he did take out circlips. Checked out play in rod, some movement side to side but no movement vertical. Thanks for the info. Will check what you guys said. Love this forum, you guys are the best!
