Manilold heat tape/wrap

Are there any benefits to wrapping the pipe / can on a sled with manifold heat tape / wrap? Stock motor, no turbo.
Thought it might keep the heat down under the hood, and look cool!
Any negatives?

It would probably drop the temps under the hood a little bit - sort of like ceramic coating.

I remember someone talking about this stuff a couple months ago, but I've never heard of anyone trying it. I'm thinking it might be worth a try since the insulation on my pipe is starting to come apart...

I had it done on my 06 rev slp pipe (HEADER WRAP), it does keep the temps down. For stock pipes especially! Remove that crappy insulation that only goes around the top of the pipe and wrap it with header wrap. Dont forget to coat it, or it will deteriorate.

What do you mean by 'coat it'? Ceramic coating the pipe?

Spray (Coat) with a high temp silicone header wrap spray. It will keep moisture and dirt out of the wrap.
