Just tell him to make sure his offer is low enough to cover the cost of a new track when that one goes, ( which won't be all that long and probably in a real ugly spot).

if the sled is cheap enough and in good enough shape, a track is quite cheap. Is that the only torn lug?
Its got two torn lugs. its a 2003 skidoo highmark 800. its got a short somewhere and the track. He can get it for 2500

A mint no issues 2003 should be $2500. One that needs a top end $1500 tops, that one about $1200. I would rock the track it won't delam or anything from two torn lugs.

yeh dont be getting anywhere near that sled. it needs work and the tracks arent easy to find anymore unless you want aftermarket. and ontop after the top end you might get one season more out of it and be scared the crank will go.

Your going to sink 3000 into that sled. Not such a good deal. If it was just the track no problem but that short and engine could haunt you very soon

Spot junior a couple grand and get him into a rev chassis. Everyone will be waaaaaay happier in the long run. I assume this is the zx.

lots of nice sleds out their don't rush it your son wants a sled to bad. I had my son wanting a sled the same way and I would't let him buy a mountain sled used unless we new the rider. We finnaly bought a new sled but it was a year old and saved alot of money, I just bought a 2011 m8 for 9800 out the door at a dealer and new it was closer to 15000. With my son he bought his own sled and he takes care of it because he owns it not me. The only thing I help with is he keeps it on my insurance because he's only 17 and they would kill him otherwise.

no compression, NO DEAL! before i bought mine i looked at one with no comp in either cyl and the dude insisted "it just needs a tuneup", yea, the rebuild kinda tune up. sadly someone probably believed him & bought it. it's a buyers market, find something you can put gas in & go
