Personally myself im not impressed with the dodge 2500 trucks from 2011 to 2014 model years with the 5.7 we are running them at work and they have been in for multiple transmissions, front ends, electrical issues, power steering pumps, and recently 1 motor. these trucks only carry a payload in the bed and have driving monitors so they are not rat bagged. the 6l chevys have been a reliable truck mostly maintenance and the odd front end. and the fords seem to do well too but we dont run many of them to know much more about them.

My son just bought a new 2015 f150 4x4 crewcab shortbox 3.5l ecoboost.... Trailer towing capacity is 12000lbs, and payload is 3800lbs.... Wow! More than my old 2011 megacab diesel 3500 4x4...WTF?
3800lb payload?!?!?!?!?!?!? Are you for real? Pic of the sticker?

Some one might of read it wrong according too the Ford Canada site...

2016 Eco boost ford 4 door weighs 3500 kgs "GVWR, with pay-load in truck box. Will tow 5140 kgs, cargo in box is 1311 kgs "there or abouts" with size 18 tires marked in options box. Passengers, full tank with fuel, tool box, tow hitch ect... This of course makes up how much weight can actually be hauled in the unit.

The unit would do good running 80% of that easy, this is why I never bothered with a half ton back then. This is why 3/4 and 1 tons shine since they come factory with heavy-duty parts for tackling the loads in life, and we can still drive them like a car if we choose.

14 mpg no load, and 7 mpg in pack mule mode... Ha...

There's no way any f150 weighs 3784 kgs. That's 8300 pounds. The heaviest gvwr you can have is 8200 lbs with the heavy duty payload package.

Yes. that would be GVWR with truck and pay-load. me bad as the ford Canada site is hard to read.

My whoops too as there was to many numbers to remember.

3.5L EcoBoost[SUP]®[/SUP] V63,561 kg from the ford site... this is GVWR, and not 3800 kgs. my bad.

I think it can pack 1311 kgs in box, but the ford Canada site is hard to follow. lets just say 1000 kgs to be safe. All depends on 4X4, tow package, trailer hitch, tire size and rims, with or with out tail gate, and now many cans of beer you are packing...

Try to track down a Ford 6.8 V-10. I had a '08 350 FX4 crewcab. Incredible power for towing any trailer. The 350 at the time was cheaper than 250 because of some incentives, never really noticed the difference in the ride.
Pro's - lots of power, lots of cab space, comfortable ride and quiet, transmission in tow mode made pulling trailer down hill very easy to manage
Cons - Super Duty are really big trucks and finding parking was a pain, fuel tank was too small for the engine

I have a Gmc 10 cc 6.2L Max tow 6sp 3.73 gears. (104kms) black bear tuned level kit and 275 tires
Went to vale 2 weeks ago. 9.4 mpg. Towing low boy 4 place with 5 sleds, gear and people. Drive with my foot in it mostly 120 on the double lane and lots of running to riding areas for 5 days. If you want to go just put foot in it Haha
I love the truck but want to go new body style. I'm super fussy so I want grey or cashmere interior and would like 6.5' box
Gm or Chev do not offer the 6.2 with towing package on the std box
Now do I compromise for short box or give in and go diesel
Hard to find a good new style diesel. They all head south with brokers.
I think it's kinda a no brainer to go that way given I can run coloured fuel but not sure I really need it. Lol

Well I bought a 6.4 hemi today , too good of deal to
pass up ... Not going to pull like a diesel ,but close enough for me I hope.
I do really like the rest of the truck too though...3500 long box .

time will tell , but I hear a lot of good things about the 6.4s !

Im in the same boat.. Cant decide 2500 with 6.0 or 1500 with 6.2 and 8 speed. My brother has a 2500 6.4L Hemi that has been reliable and has a tons of power but loves fuel even when its not pulling.

The 1500 6.2 with the tow max will out spec the 2500. The only thing that bits you on the 1500 is the hitch weight and payload. But if your only pulling couple times a year. Go 1500, get the ride99% of the year

Word to that. I have a 15 Gmc with the 6.0 and really wish they had put the 6.2 in it. Don't get me wrong power is good, it's rated for 13000 lbs but just the mileage pulling hills loaded with my trailer isn't all that great. Other than that the power is there if you are willing to give it the gas!

But on another note the 15 Gmc replaced an 11 f350 with the 6.2. I am not a Ford guy but on that note, hauling the exact same trailer the 6.0 tows much much better. Even though it is rated less hp it down shifted less on hills, etc.
I just found the 6.2 would send the truck up the hill in 2nd screaming at 100. Not impressed with that!
