My 500 HO runs great but it idles low, about 850-900rpm. I've adjusted the carburator to idle higher and that works fine until i've ridden for awhile. It seems to come back down in rpm the more i drive until i adjust it again. I would have thought that once i set the idle it should stay there. ?.

your carb could need cleaning. and your throttle body.

well if the idle goes back low after you adjust it, could the idle screw be backing out?

I rode for 2 hours yesterday and the idle was steady at 1200rpm. By the third hour it was slowly comming down each time I stopped. It does seem like the screw backs off a bit over time. No big deal I guess,I'll just try some lock thread for now.
