a buddy of mine just went from a 121' track to a 151' and we got into a big argument about gearing i was just wondering what you guys have to say about it. the gears in the sled are 39-23

are you sure about that. sorry i guess 23/39 makes sense.

either way not sure what size motor he has but if its an 800 i would start off with something around 19/43

He's probably not low enough, especially if mountain riding. Some where around 2.0 or 0.5 (depending on which way you prefer to calculate) would likely be good at a minimum for mountians.

He is geared fine for the trails, but way too high for a 600 to move a 151" around the mountains. Depending on the sled there are many options, but the 2.0 to 2.05 suggested above is a great place to start. A 600 and 151" track is going to take a lot of work to get the gearing and clutching right for the mountains.
