Holy balls, what can go wrong next? Yesterday we harvested a load then the head hooked an old pipe sticking out of the ground for something they buried years ago and took the cutter bar and folded it under the head. Then last night the fuse for the separator was blowing out. Now to take the cake today the grain tank is almost full and the upper gear case on the unload auger is seized up. Taking loaders to the field now to unload grain tank and fix gear box. Getting done with beans on Saturday keeps looking more and more like a dream rather than a reality

Vermilion community lost a young farmer, father and just a good guy out in the field this week. Prayers and sympathy to the Haverslew family,
Rip Haver

Sorry to here of the lose of your young farmer, I know the community will work to take care of the family. Any harvest left?

Let me know if there will be any avenue for family donations.

No pics of the original accident but this is the result.

Straight cutting head off the combine is the only thing that saved it from going right over.

On a positive note all the grain fermenting in the dugout is gonna make for some happy cows....

Finished up the 2012 harvest last night at about 11:30.

Still have a couple of hail insurance strips to go around and get, but that's minor.

2012 soybean harvest officially done. Few bad days of breakdowns but no personal injuries except sore and tired bodies. Now on to corn.

Thanks doug, your right. We run ourselves ragged and accidents do and will happen. Surely count your blessing in this career this time of year

Its getting to be a long harvest season. We dont drink during planting and harvest. Every morning i reach into the freezer to grab the icey for my cooler and right next to it lays my whiskey. Its starting to look lonely :(
