Anybody running the newer ( 2014 -15 ) F350 with the 6.2 gasser? Curious how it pulls and fuel mileage. I'm thinking of maybe looking into one for towing my boat.
I'm really up in the air as to whether to stick with the 150 with the 3.6 ( which I'm happy with) or upgrade to the 350 with the 6.2. When I'm loaded with my 150, it's loaded to the max, but if I go up to the 350 then I won't be maxed out. The big trade off will be in the ride. though.
If you have empty and loaded averages, that would be great info.
Thanks in advance.

I pulled a 30' trailer Edmonton to PG with a new CC/LB/SRW and it was in the 30-32 L/100k, empty the same truck was able to get as good as 17L/100K, probably a few more on the table but it was a rental so I drove it as such.

I pulled the same trailer to Rainbow Lake with an extra 2000lbs in it with a brand new CC/LB/DRW with a 6.7 and got 25L/100K, could get the dually down to 14L/100K but I was driving like a girl 'cause the roads were so bad.

6.2 pulls okay but you need to really wring it out, all the power is upstairs in the powerband.

why not get the new 2015 f150? it supposibly has bigger payload than the 2014. also not sure what insurance is like in AB but 350's can only be insured as business use and no replacement value u just get book price and more expensive insurance

The 6.2 has been a awesome motor and i know a couple guys who pull with them and have no complaints, like to rev just like any other gasser. If i were you and not really needing as one ton i would look into the f250, the 6.2l hp and torq is a littler higher on the 250 cause its gvw is 10000 lbs. Plus the ride would be a lil better to.

I'm really happy with my 11 F150, it's a real work horse. The only weakness is when you're loaded and going down hills in the mountains. You really notice that you have 2 less cylinders, doesn't really hold itself back.
Anyways back on topic, just looking for info as mentioned in my first post. :)

Is this true? I don't recall any of that when I insured my 3 fiddy.

Not true, i have my 350 insured for pleasure only and if you don't use the GVW rating of the 350, you can always down grade it and pay less on insurance. I have mine down at 9,999Lbs GVW. 10,000Lbs and up you pay a higher premium and then at 12,000Lbs and above you pay another premium. You just can never up grade it above the manufactures engineers specification's marked on the door post.

Thanks boys. I'm going to have to look over my policy again! My grocery getter will rarely see max GVRW.

2013 F350 6.2 and I am quite happy so far. With two sleds and gear, I will honestly get 15-16l/100 on average. I have a 25' all season holiday trailer and it pulled alright (around 20-25l/100) when I wasn't bucking a head wind. The 100 km/h head winds had me down to 40l/100 on the way back from Lethbridge. It was a struggle. I have 373 gearing and a long box (4x4) so GVW is a little higher. If you were in an area with strong winds or big climbs, I would think about 410 gearing. I don't know what effect that would have on mileage.
