What are Canadians looking for in electric vehicles?
A new infographic by data company J.D. Power suggests it mostly comes down to saving the environment and saving some bucks.
About 70% of Canadians surveyed said the biggest advantage to switching to an EV was the fact that it would be better for the environment. About 60% said saving money wouldn’t hurt either.

And 86% of them say that government subsidies are a factor in deciding to buy one. Take away those subsidies and see what happens to sales.

So like ford family pricing

Except that when ford, fiat and GM lower their prices, the companies themselves make less money. The subsidies for the EV’s come from taxpayers. That’s 5-8k that doesn’t improve health care, roads, education etc. It’s money added to the deficit and debt of the country.

Judging by the number of ev on the road the impact isn't being felt.

Tax payer money isn't yours, it's the government's. Once they have it, its theirs to do with what they like.

The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on an EV is due to the quickly changing battery technology and that I haven't yet worn out the vehicle it would replace. I suspect a lot of people in that spot. Pricing will also come down somewhat but right now the demand for Tesla is mostly more than they can supply.

Keep in mind that socialism is what gave us health care and roads so not necessarily a bad thing. All levels of government spend money on things we, as individuals, don't like. Many subsidies are offered as tax breaks against future income so don't cost anything unless one succeeds.

The government bought the trans mountain pipeline project for $4.5 billion, the construction cost has risen from $7.4 billion to an estimated $12.6 billion, and here we are b!tching about a ~$5000 rebate on an electric car....

Oh but the government doesn't subsidize oil and gas projects, just renewable ones....

Are they even building that pipeline still? Seems like we bought it just to shut it down.

Supposedly, won another challenge in court, yet only 12% of the route through metro Vancouver has been approved, and none of the route through the Fraser valley has been approved.

Kind of proves my point though, an electric vehicle rebate at least buys something, so far this $4.5 billion hasn't got us a thing...

The TM was funded but the dumb asses couldn’t give it a go ahead so had to purchase with tax dollars .
That’s government funding for absolute no reason .

Our government wastes money on all kinds of chit. Doesnt make it right, but not much I can do about it besides moving.

Im not a big fan of the rebates and first time home buyers program, buying pipe lines ext.

I want the government to maintain my roads and keep the terrorists out and get out of the way. They arent doing those things, so I have no use for them.

They just extort money out of me.

That and hundred's of other things they have wasted billions on.

I feel better knowing that a Canadian gets a car though instead of the money going into the pockets of Bombardier, SNC Lavalin, or TransCanada.

Keep up . This is the second start .
It’s getting built as you can’t just snap your fingers and have pipe , vendors , contractors for a project this size .
Takes years for pipe supply .
Smoke and mirrors .

Guess it was is so minor I didn't even notice? If it puts a few guys to work, that is good though. I think my sisters husband is working on it, or doing some thing up there north west of GP anyways.
