dipstick

can anyone tell me the length of the dipstick that should be in a 2004 kfx 400. i measure the one thats in there and the steel part is 2 3/4 inchs, anyone kno if thats the right dipstick

I see you looked into a manual. What would cause you think it is not the right dipstick?

i havnt tried yet but what if i get the engine like running temp and check it with the machine running? would that help me at all in finding out whats goinggg on

One of the links I posted said you can pull the dipstick, shine a light in the tank and actually see the oil circulating when bike is running. Might try that to see if the oil return is even working.

well when i put the oil back into the bike i put it into the oil reseviour so would that meant it would be circulating if the oil let the reseviour and into the crank

lol i have no clue who said they could see down into theyre resivour but there is no way i could, maybe if u took the front fenders and light out but that holes pretty small lol

mayby try useing a mirror? Also use a clean stick or somthing and put it in the tank to see if there is oil in there.

weell when u pull the dipstick after u ran it theres oil on it, but its when u whipe it off and put it back in that it comes out with no oil
