I finally got the go ahead from my wife to pick up a new sled this year, I am not a fan of Ski-doo mainly due to their affiliation with Bombardier so I am looking at Cat, Polaris or Yamaha.
I haven’t decided 2 stroke or 4 stroke, but it does seem to look like I’m going to get the most bang for my buck by buying a leftover Cat or Yamaha. What are you guys seeing for deals on past model years, or what is your recommendation for a low maintenance, all purpose sled for a big guy (6’4 260) to boondock and maybe take to the mountains someday?
Thanks

If you aren't paying cash both Yamaha and Arctic Cat I know offer 0% financing over 60 months.

I personally picked up a 2017 Sidewinder for $16,500 out the door.

What is your current/last sled? Looking at crossover style or mountain that you'll ride down low?

The 0% is huge, I will be making payments for a few months until the wife is back to work from maternity leave

I haven't had one since I was in high school but that was a '99 ZR600, I have ridden a few Assaults which I like but I am leaning towards a crossover. I don't have the ability or balls to go to the mountains, but if that changes I would like to have something that allows me to go.

Seems like you are pointed in the right direction if you are a bigger guy. The cats and yammis are well built. From what I have read, go with a sidewinder for sure if you choose yamaha. Cant go wrong with a holdover cat either.

I'm hoping to stay as close to $10,000 as possible. My local Yamaha dealer had some specials close to that last year, I would spend a bit more but I am also looking at buying a 120 for my oldest daughter as well.

Check out T&T Powersports in Bonnyville. Terry has some deals on non current new sleds. Even seen a combo deal with a 16 m8000 and a 120 for a crazy price. Huge rebates and 0% sold me on a second one. He has customers make long drives due to the second to none service and customer support.

I would’n’t touch a $10k Yammy for you, go with a 2016 153” Cat M8000 for that price

I found a new '13 M1100 162", for close to the same price as a '15 M8000 153"
Thoughts?

I would take the M8000 over the M1100 ten times out of ten. Rode a 16 M8000 last weekend and I really liked it, great sled.

Check out Argyll Motorsports for Cats. Had a friend buy a new 2015 162 M8000 out the door for $8700. I think he got the last one but they have lots of 2016's left over for around 10k I believe.
