Any news on the snow conditions up Crowfoot and the surrounding riding areas Going too b riding out of Seymour Arm this winter Bought a place up up there Looking forward too a great sledding winter ??
Rode Crowfoot on Friday and Saturday. We staged a couple of km's past the 2nd staging area on Friday. Saturday they asked us not to go past the 2nd staging area.
The Sheeps Trail is in pretty rough shape. Once section was almost nothing but rocks and ice. Got to keep your momentum up to get thru the icy sections. Easy Street was whooped up pretty bad on Friday. They groomed Friday night and improved it a little but not the usual smooth ride up. A few guys in our group went up the Face and said it was challenging.
Visibility on Friday was really bad along the ridge. It was snowing a lot and it was windy. A little uneasy feeling when you can't get your bearings and the poles aren't out yet. Saturday started off the same but cleared up around 2. There is a thick 4 to 6 inch crust about a foot down which stops you pretty hard if you break through. Another crust was forming on the top on Saturday. We did find areas with good snow in the trees.
This was the only time I pulled out the GoPro.
Rode Crowfoot Friday and Saturday. Seemed deep but no base and lots of landmines. I don't think our group has ever been stuck that many times in one day. Tired just trying to get to buddies to give them a ski pull. The poles aren't up yet so it gets kind of sketchy working your way back when the weather blows in. The road to the staging area was super slick on the way down on Saturday. We staged in the first parking area. The road up wasn't bad but the trails were whooped up pretty good.
