Does the spot phone handle the cold or does the battery die?

Spot phone works very well in the cold.

Spent 25min on hold with 911 on the side of the mountain at -22c. And still had life.

Boafeng batteries were still hanging in there but we're starting to dwindle.

Cell phone batteries are useless, don't rely on them for anything other than a lithium fire.

Was the phone cold all day prior to the call, or was it stored in a warmer location?

Spot makes a phone now??
It's the globstar one.
Pricing has gotten a little goofy.

I would probably go with a iridium now as you can get a 6 month prepaid subscription for $325 with a decent amount of minutes.

Spot/Globalstar have the cheaper phone but you pay through the nose for the minutes/subscription.

Interesting, I may have to try one of those iridiums out.
That global star I had for a few years was total junk that never worked.

Looking at about $1k for a irridum phone but the minutes are cheaper.

Globalstar did a bunch of upgrades to their network over the past 5 years. Reliability had been rock solid.

My global spot works awesome in the cold....when I can get out. Around 10am here in the koots it sucks.
Dont like the fact I can’t use it in Costa Rica areas but it never worked in lower part of Mexico or even in southern Oregon wtf?
Works good at home though.
I hear yah on the min thing, they keep jacking the rates up. might have to look into the competition

Ive left my Spot Phone/Global Star in the google box on the doo all year. Charged once and has made 5 phone calls (for Pizza) and still has plenty of charge.
