By mountain weights, do you simply mean lighter weights to get your running rpm correct?
It depends on the elevation change. You may be right out of the powerband if you run your low elevation clutching in the mountains.
What are your "prairie weights"?
What is your typical elevation?
What is the elevation of the mountains your going to?

If your going from 2000' to 8000' you need to lighten up the primary weights (mountain weights). You can get this info anlmost anywhere for any sled. If you keep your flatland weights in there, you will be under reving! Meaning you will not be able to spin your motor up to the optimal power output RPM. It will cost you like $90ish to get the new weights. They are easy to change, even if you've never done it before!

According to the deep snow manual for your sled you are probably running 10-74 weights
These should be good for up to 5000ft

10-72 5000-7000ft

10-70 7000-9000ft

I ride a 900 Fusion @ 3000ft and had to drop my standard 10-74 weights to 10-70 to get my revs right

According to the "Deep Snow Manual" would your Fusion not be overreving at 3000', if your runnung weights for 7-9000' ?
