Great article Trish. Unfortunately it's been my experience that facts, credible science, and common sense have no place in negotiating with environmentalists over Caribou.:(

You brought up some very good points in your article, Trish. As sledders we are losing more and more prime areas. It's just not right and holds no logic. Like you say, sledders for the most part leave virtually no traces behind except tracks...but, we are scapegoats....easy targets to blame for the caribou's decline. I have watched areas that my family and I used to love sledding in be taken away with a stroke of a pen....I agree also that we as a sledding community need to band together to fight these issues, and by that I mean joining your local snowmobile club. It's a small price to pay to ensure that we don't lose any more of our backcountry. Strength in numbers!
