Just got back from a great week at Radium Hot Springs, but got a shocker after reading the local paper. The Columbia Valley ie; Radium/Invermere/Fairmont has lost 75% of camping stalls over the last 4 years to operators trying to sell full seasonal lots, scary thought. The long weekend Radium Chamber of Commerce turned approximately 100 campers away and suggested camping in the Golden or Cranbrook areas as all the local campsites were full. Stayed at The Canyon rv resort in the valley and they run a awesome campground. So if your planning a camping weekend in the area phone ahead to reserve a site.:):)

Yes, it's gotten pretty bad for camp spots out here. Years ago that's what you did here so there were lots of options. Now it's condos...
One campground turned into building lots, one leased campground booted everyone out to sell the lots, one rental campground turned lots into strata rv lots to sell (not selling so they are renting them out) another campground closed to rip up the land for development, now it's not getting developed and it's up for sale...on and on it goes...good thing you got into Canyon, nice place. Many others don't let you reserve either, first come, first served basis. People are being forced to use Forestry campgrounds out of town as there's not much right in the valley anymore. Not enough supply for the 1,000's of people that come here every weekend to camp! :(

i used to go there quite abit when i was 17-18. friends had a cottage/house there. all we did was go wake boarding and play a&&hole while drinking ourselves into a coma. broke into the hot spings there once or 20 times to do some late night skinny dipping. seemed like security didnt mind as long as he got to see the girlies naked too. maybe he just didnt want to wrestle a bunch of drunk naked guys tho either. anyway umm is there places for dirty biking there as well? would like to ride some of those hills for sure! any info would be great...directions???
