Test Riders Wanted
C3 PowerSports has just finished doing its first round of field testing on its ground-breaking new belt drive system. We are now looking for test riders to provide us with additional feedback.
  • We have 10 Pre-Production belt drive systems available for testing
  • They will be available at pre-production cost of $745
  • Testers will be allowed to keep the pre-production models once testing is finished and any upgrades will be supplied.
  • 1:2.52 gear ratio (best for mountain riding 800) will be used. With the production version, you will be able to choose between 1:1.68 to 1:2.68
  • Testers are required to give feedback and assume all responsibility
Please call 250-833-3538 if you want to be a C3 Test Rider!

been following this mod for a long time considering the damage a blown chain can do.

curious to see the mountain test results.

There should not be any HP resrictions. If it ever did become an issue, we could make a wider belt to distribute the power more evenly.

So far this is only for the XP, we are working on a 1200 prototype as well. In the future we hope to be able to adapt this design to other brands.

What type of sled do you have, and would you be interested in this product if it were available for other brands?

crazy mountain sleds have been using that drive for years

Thank you papajake,

Yes, they also have a belt drive system, however their kit cost $2,400.00 US and is not a 'bolt-on' kit and requires lots of modifications.

The C3 PowerSports Belt Drive system will cost under $990 Canadian, and is a simple "bolt-on" kit, that can easily be done at home.

i think a belt drive system for the rev/zx chassis would be a good idea. considering they use the same chaincase and there are thousands of them out there.

so what would the weight loss be ? and what keeps the belt running in line ?

We are saying it has a 4+ lb reduction in rotating mass because we have not finished the final production unit at this time, so we want to be conservative. The weight savings comes from lighter sprockets, no chain or chain oil and a half carbon fiber guard that replaces the stock full aluminum guard.

When we say rotating mass, this is the mass that the engine must push, before the track even moves. This restricts HP because the engine was to work harder to rotate 4+ lb of resistance (heavy chain, chain oil) before the HP reaches the track and pushes you up the mountain. By eliminating resistance and rotating mass, you can create more usable HP that is not wasted. Our belt drive system eliminates the resistance and rotating mass caused by the chain and chain oil, and replaces it with a light weight belt drive.

The belt is held in place by our unique idler pulley design. We have actually attached a high speed camera to the side of the chassis to monitor the belt drive system to look for any abnormalities and found none.

Belt Drive Update

We had our C3 Prototype Belt Drive on Cory Micku's 880 XP at the Mountain Mania ride up in Revelstoke B.C last weekend. He continued to ride it hard and it's still performing great!

Here is a short video of a few of the hill climbs that we managed to get on camera

At that price I'd be interested in one for the Apex. Does the design on the rev allow the drive shaft to be relocated (drop and roll) without moving the jack shaft, like and extended chain case?

C3 Belt Drive Update

We have finished over 500 miles of testing and haven't had any wear problems at all.
Our test rider, Cory Micku, just finished over 200km while doubling with his girlfriend. He found that it performed awesome and had lots of power.

We have almost completed the first 10 pre-production units and will be ready to ship out soon.

Call 250-833-3538 for more information on the status of the pre-production units.

Is the pre-production version still $745?

Do you guys have any idea how much "usuable HP" a person would pick up when switching over ?

It is still unclear how much it would change, but we are working on it. However the ability to quickly change gear ratios to fit your riding stile, wether its trail, freestyle or mountain hill climbs, will greatly improve performance.

We were out riding in Revelstoke the other weekend, and one of the 1200 guys broke their chain, he immediately wished he had the belt drive. We should have one ready for the 1200 soon, as well as the extended chain case.

The pre-production kit is still $745 and we only have a few kits left.
