Best mountain riding area's for SXS's?

Hey guys. Finally picked up a Maverick X3 XRS and am looking to do some riding/camping with the girlfriend this coming summer. I do quite a bit of snowmobiling in Sicamous and Revelstoke, so I'm fairly familiar with those areas. I'd like to find a mountain range where a guy can explore off trail and camp where ever necessary. Or is their any good trails with camping areas you can ride from? Thanks

Youd better hurry and donate to the BCSF. That Thread is on here. Come summer time everything including peddle bikes could be illegal. Co2 closures. Grizzly closures. Caribou closures. Fawk.riding areas are going to be as rare as a hard working liberal.

FYI, off road riding in the summer months in the Kootenays is restricted to road riding only (and that is defined as a road made with a blade ie bull dozer). I think it is pretty much this way through most of BC. That means logging roads and turn around at the last landing. One good thing is that we do have lots of logging roads.

Most of the alpine has been out of bounds for quite a few years now.

X2, what he said stands true. Logging roads only and you require licencing.
Anything above tree line or as said by Fernie, Alpine is bane from wheeled vehicles.
Sledding area like Revy and Sicamous have very limited access for any off road usage during summer months.

Access is available to the fire look out on Mara mountain via Mable lake road ONLY.

Also you can access Kanaka lake in the Hunter range sledding area via 4x4 road.
This road connects to the Cook creek area that is now out of bound as it goes over the saddle. If you intend to ATV or off road these areas, its all good as long as you stay on the designated road. If caught off they seize everything and you will be fined. Plus if any enviro damage you can face prison time. So stick to the trail and all is good.

FYI, i have gone into Kanaka in July and camped, the high alpine trout is very nice.

We have some awesome riding up here!! We have quite a few mountains that are SXS friendly, but you do have to stay on the trails. The pics are from the Microwave, where you can camp down on the Telkwa River.

Time to install the snow blade and get building some more roads.
