I must be "old school"......10 miles of varying speeds and loads....no hard acceleration till then, then after 10 miles...to the bar....as much as possible

Wash in water and mild soap. Ride it in to the cabin taking it easy, stop and let it cool and then pin it. Helps to clean the clutches too with the same soap water mix then hit the sheaves with scotchbrite.

Lots of my first rides over the past years have, by necessity, been hard riding. Breaking trail and good short steep climbs and there was no letting off the throttle. The belt never seemed to complain. We have maybe 5 km of easy trail and the next 7 km is a 2000' climb.

I don't really pamper the belt; I have never washed them but will regularly adjust the deflection.

Install, warm the engine up, go.
That goes for drive belt and clutch belt.
