You knew when you moved here that BC meant BRING CASH. lol
That being said it doesn't seem fair to expect anyone moving into the province to pay taxes on what they bring with them.
Like ferniesnow says didn't you claim all this stuff when you moved?

I guess what's good for the goose is good for the gander? Never was sure what that was all about, come butchering time I took all the heads off the same. Hey, my son went to Alberta, bought a D Max (40K), paid GST there and then PST when he came back to BC, plus had to get a MV inspection done. This stuff has been around a long time and the Gov't is now getting caught up. What caused the change is more important at this stage, and that is that some BCers have been abusing the tax system like this for sled and quads for years. Is it fair that Alberta has no PST??? Not really, but that's what it is. Is it fair that you can get fuel in Cow Town for 96 cents and I have to pay $1.25 in Sicahole?? Not really, but that's what it is. Times are changing, taxes will always keep going up, and if we want to keep enjoying the sport we have, then we're going to have to pay, and not brag about trying to beat the system, as much as you or I may hate some of it. Krips , I sound like an old man, wait,I almost am!!!! Sherm

well sherm, would you like to tell us wot the fines are you can and do hand out ???

last year, buddy got a warning ticket for riding on a "plowed road" for 100m to the truck. ironic there was NOWHERE else to park closer, so rather than park on a corner obstructing traffic he parked in the safest place for every road user. this just happens to be the end of the plowed road. but if I was heading the other way, away from the plowed road, but was on it for 10m due to where I parked m truck is that ok when 100m is not?
he got a $58 fine for no sticker ...
the CO waiting for them, no other trucks in the lot ...

the whole speel about "finding stollen sleds" seems a diversion. how many trucks, sleds, trailers get stollen in revy every year, and how many get found and how many convictions result? all these trucks and trailers were rego"d and insured.

personally I expect a real blitz next season at trail heads guys, but if they are not running the vin number on every unrego"d sled, that just means stollen sled owners just get a fine and walk away laughing at the system !!! if I'm not driving my truck, why carry a wallet and ID to the backcountry ...

Not Sure
Fair has nothing to do with reason Alberta has no pst. Charging tax on a sled I give to one of my children is bull no mater how you look at it.
Since I can do it they will be registered in AB and will be legal but will never leave bc. Since gas is cheap I will haul all I need to Sucamous for the winter.
If the RCMP sit at the lots to check for registration there are lots other places to ride from so that will hurt the clubs revenue.

More manipulation, taxation, and suppression by the endless socialist parties that have governed a province rich in resources but sadly lacking in democracy. Love B.C, but couldn't live there.

What's that???

You may still be okay. When you move to another province, you naturally bring all your possessions (furniture, appliances, cars, trucks, sleds, plates, spoons, etc., etc..). Right! Let's say, like you, Joe Blow lived in Alberta and moved to BC or Saskatchewan. Both provinces have different taxes than Alberta. In their great wisdom a long time ago, the bureaucrats decided that no taxes would have to be paid on the personal possessions brought into the province with the move. Another tidbit you may not have taken advantage of is that since you had a job in BC (you were relocating for a job), the cost of the move was deductible from your income tax.

I say you may be okay, as I know a young fellow who moved into the province in January and it was actually the ICBC vendor that mentioned to him about the settler's possessions when he went to register his sled the other day. He paid no taxes! I do not know how long on has to do the paper work but it would be worth a try.

Shadam, I'd like to give you an answer that would solve all these woe's but I don't have one. I hung up my gun belt 12 years ago and can now only shake my head at what they call "community policing", its pretty sad. I always used the moniker "I'll treat you like you treat me", and it worked very well. For my sled checks it was a pleasant time for everyone involved, check decals, registration, safety gear etc., and 90% of the paper we served were warnings. The other 10% were attitude tickets. If you so chose to treat me like crap right off the bat, you wouldn't even get your sled off the truck! For those who drove away pissed off to find another place to sled, so be it, because you accomplished nothing by your actions. If you choose to bring your own gas (not a bad idea but its already being done, by the truck load!)to Sicahole and have to scurry around to avoid being checked, why would you waste your time to even come here if its so bad, follow the rules and enjoy your stay! Oh, and let me know where the remote cheap gas fillup tank is at, I can save some tax money there! Sherm

thx ... I certainly get the attitude ticket. I used to drive transport trucks and some guys would get raped and bytch and whing about it big time. some of us would get away with warnings ... funny how "those guys" never got it.

I choose to live and play in BC ... I don't like some things, but the positives out way the negs ...

gota pay to play ...

now wot about my honda trikes ???
