I like the idea of an ongoing "this is my season" thread, like lilduke and Shadam have. I'm gonna rip them off and do one of my own, as I always pack the camera and gopro when I go sledding so I might as well post some of this stuff on here.

I'll start with my trip to Revy and Golden last weekend w/ CJR and hevy_chevy67.

We rode Boulder on the 14th. Low-vis but a pile of snow, had a good time. Last year I gained the reputation of finding creeks like I was getting paid to do it...well looks like this year is gonna be the same cause I caught two that day.

The lack of visibility was the cause for one of my creek mishaps. Know when you're going along great, suddenly your guts sink as you hit that unseen lip and you're launched into/over the black pit of a creek below? Yeah it's come to be a feeling I'm rather familiar with and one I do't like much haha  luckily this time I didn't plow it into the other side, I actually landed fine but got stuck when I stopped to warn the other guys of what I'd hit.

Sunday the 15th we went to Quartz Creek and mucked about in the trees there. Conditions were decent, if you get out from the main areas and poke around there was good snow. Got stuck lots, but surprisingly no creeks this time.

Well today I went for a short rip with my buddy Jason and his sons. Hope he see's this, as he lurks on here but I an't remember his username.

Boy was it cold out haha. Beard froze right to my balaclava. Still, snow is as deep as I've seen it in recent years and with exception to the wind-blown and frozen hilltops, it was good to ride in.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas Day and gets the chance to head out and enjoy the warm weather this week!

Not much to report, only got a few hours in today. Took my sisters and their friend out and taught them the only skills I know on a sled:

Snow is getting really hard. The summit darts around like crazy in the fields, makes piloting it pretty ridiculous. The old sleds just soldier on. Took my older sister, my cousin and her husband out for a rip this afternoon. They had a blast, only got a couple stucks in each. Forecast for the next week is snow so hopefully we can cover up some of this crusty crap.

Well I mean I'm no TV super-star like Mr. Duke but I get by alright... haha

No riding today. Recoil guts took a dump when I tried to start it. Fixing stuff tonight.

Recoil piled up yesterday, I think out of protest of all the prairies I've been making a summit put up with, So today my cousin came out to go for a rip and after a week of beating up ditches and tree-breaks I'm longing for the mountains. Gonna fix the sled and hopefully my next update will be coming to you from somewhere beautiful like Valemount.

On with the show.

Ahh the old "gonna start my Evinrude" trick eh?

Hey whatever works man...

My cousin's friend snapped the steering shaft on his ZX. Everyone havin' troubles.

Aaaand that's enough prairie blasting for me for a couple weeks haha.

Haha I dunno about that... I'd like to think other manufacturers would look at that EXT and use it as example of how NOT to build sleds :p

It may be ugly but it's been a good sled for a lot of years. Uncle bought it new and beat the ever living hell out of it. It was the first "long track" sled in our family. Handles like a tank but keeps on running.

I know you've all been dyin' for an update

This past weekend we rocked on down to Fernie. Us being myself, Hevy_Chevy (Shane), Tippet (Justin), T-top (Adam) and Garret (forget your board name). First time in Fernie for me, absolutely loved it. Justin's M8 was sick all weekend so unfortunately he barely got any riding in. If you were in Wranglers Cabin on Saturday no doubt you met him, he was hanging out in there keeping everyone entertained.

Raining down low, we boogied up the trail and were some of the first to hit the new cabin. We didn't stick around for long, instead opting to follow the lone set of tracks to Wrangler.

Other than the lone set of tracks up to Wrangler we were the first dudes to get there. We stopped off to try to remedy Justin's troubles but couldn't get it sorted. He decided to hang back with his sled while we took off for the Pipeline.

It was windy as all hell up there. Visibility on the Pipeline was pretty bad but got better when you jumped into the trees.

Pretty pleased with the area we were in we played around for a while. The snow was heavy but there were no tracks and when the wind died down visibility improved and we had a time.

Between stucks we managed to get some riding in.

Eventually the howling wind got the best of us and we decided to head back to Wrangler to see what Justin was up too.

Just as we headed down the mountain the sun came out. Cruel trick mother nature... :nono:

For my first day riding in Fernie it was great. Can't wait to return. Early in the day my recoil started acting up again (replaced it last week) so it was back to the old strap-on-the-clutch trick. I was a little frustrated with that, but at least I was riding.

We worked on Justin's sled Saturday night and hoped we'd worked out his issue. I got a kick out of the trailer parked beside us, best decal job I've seen.

Sunday the sun came out. We unloaded and the guys headed up the hill as Justin and I tried to fix our ailing machines. Big thanks to Weir Boondocking for lending me his pliers and spring-removed to pull my can off (to get at the recoil). I always seem to forget something. Saturday it was toilet paper and sunday it was tools :tape2: so thank you, Andy, it was greatly appreciated. Justin's sled just wouldn't cooperate and my recoil was not to be fixed despite my best efforts (at swearing at it). So I fired up and headed up to Wrangler to meet the guys.

My sled ran like a raped ape all the way to Wrangler but the moment I got there and let off the flipper it backfired and started running like garbage. Almost like fouled plugs or bad fuel. I ruled out the fuel cause all the sleds in my group were running the same fuel as I was. I did all the usual checks like plugs (ran the same with my new plus or my crap spare plugs), check for spark, compression etc. Couldn't solve it. Had one older gentleman who seemed rather learned in the mystic ways of the snow-machine tell me that, even though it wasn't making any harsh metallic sounds, he was fairly certain I'd blown it. I was grateful for his advice but am really hoping this is not the case...otherwise it could spell the end of my season (or my REV's season anyways) :(

So I waited in Wrangler and hung out with the people passing through, had some good BS sessions and chopped some firewood. The guys eventually came back and Shane towed my ass down the mountain. Can't say that I'm in any hurry to do that again anytime soon...

I've yet to look at my sled but I hope it's something simple so I can get back to ripping around. The season has practically just started!

Big thanks as always to my riding amigos Shane and Justin for another fun trip. Adam and Garret, hope to ride with you boys again soon.
