the boy just sold his 550 RMK Trail and wants to build a 670 or an X....so a few questions? stock 670 is how much HP? what is the best size track.....yes longer is better but how much track will a 670 turn? with out a drop and roll what is the biggest lug that will fit? what is the best drop and roll? and for reverse what years will fit the 98 ish chain case.......its been years (97 ish) since I had to think Ski-doo! lol Help with any info! the kid is 13 so this is going to be a project over the next few winters.....right now I have a line on a stock, very clean low mile, old man drivin 670 summit......I think its a 98 or 99......going to go check out next week!

I think they are about 135hp in stock form. Pretty easy to make power with them though. Good set of pipes, open up the air box, porting is a must, Crank the timing as far advanced as it will go (probably need to run av gas) and that should get you at the 160hp mark I would think. I have seen many back in the day running 156 and 159 tracks with drop and rolls. 740cc kits made a good upgrade also.

As much as I love the S chassis I wouldn't spend a dime on modding one unless you could get the parts free and didn't value your time. You would be far better off to buy one that is modded how you want it already. A stock 670X will turn a 151 etc. with absolutely no problem.

Yep stock no problem to spin a 151 2" rode mine for years hp is around 135 range in stock form. Easy to maintain. Cheap to run lots of parts out there super dependable if you leave stockish. Lots of chassis parts out there to drop weight easy. And if you get the x model chassis you can run a bigger lug without a drop. I had a. 2" on my 99 with no drop and roll

I thought you had a a chassis mod already with the blown 780 in it?

yes I have the ZX mod with that a blown triple......Im going to get it going when I sell the turbo sled......but my son who is 12 wants to build a 670......he really wants my turbo..... but He only has enough money from selling his RMK Trail to buy his own 670....funny part is I don't remember having that much HP under my hood at his age......but all his friends are running 7-800 now, so he wants to build a killer 670.....don't tell him but I know a stock 670 will work just fine for a few years......we will do a track and light weight parts first! just trying to find a clean stock 98-99 summit or summit X with reverse and something bigger than a 144 track! found one but its on the island and thinking the $500 for gas and ferry make it not such a good deal......and the other is a very clean old man driven 98 summit but no reverse and only a 136 track.......if I can find a cheap complete reverse kit I might go that way since its my neighbor.......but still looking! I also would like to find a reverse kit for my ZX.....it just makes unloading nice.....since I have no back left! lol

I also have been looking for a 670 s chassis for my boy. They are light , and easy to flip without weight.

Hard to find a older one with a 144 or 151.

Tex, buy my S chassis triple w /M10 for 3500, I'll throw in an avy bag.

Overkill I've got some 136-144 rail extensions cheep. I used those extensions to run a 151 with a skid setback, worked well with a better attack angle than just extensions.

The mounting plates are different, but the holes in the case that you bolt the plate on with are the same im pretty sure. I know that crank shop makes a plate to drop a 670 into the ol ZX.

we have a clean 98 summit 670 sitting in the shop now...it has a 136x2 inch track so I need to find a bigger one.....and a reverse kit! I have found a 720 kit but I think the kid needs reverse more than he needs 150 Hp lol

A well running 740 makes 150, I'm pretty skeptical that a 720 is making 180. Hell, an 800 triple is a runner to make a honest 180.

an engine can make what HP anyone says......but I want it to last more than one ride.....150 is reliable......and yes that 180hp triple is what I need for my ZX instead of the 215hp (blown up) triple.....lol bigger is not always better! LOL

Will a 2" fit without changing the drivers? I did a D/R on my sled but if memory serves, it was tight. Stock tracks were 1.75.

I had a 2" 151 in a '97 with no mods, and it worked great.
hahaha yes it does thanks, the boy pulled the skid this summer and replaced all the bearings, sliders and shocks. geared it to 19/45 and just got the clutch parts this week. man the clutches were in dire need of maintenance. lol

if you are going to sell that m7 in your garage let me know.....

it has a 2 inch (136) on it right now....7 tooth drivers I'm thinking but have not counted......so I know a 2 inch will fill...im just not sure now if those 02 rails will fit my 98 skid? I can get a 151x2 track with rails from a 02 summit for 300 bucks.....
