2005 RMK 900 Fusion - Steering Shaft

I have a slightly bent the steering shaft on my 900. Local dealer is saying they will have to pull the engine to replace the shaft assembly. Do you agree or is this a scam?

you have to pull the motor to do anything with that shaft as it runs directly under the motor

I will look in my manual and see what it says

Well I can't find anything about it in my shop manual (2005 performance service manual) it doesn't mention anything about the steering post. but looking at my sled I would have to agree that the engine may need to come out unless anyone else out there knows any different.

Sorry to hear that but if you do have to take the engine out it might be a good time to check the engine mounts and to change the recoil start cord over to the ultra strong recoil rope
