2000 800 rmk hard to start

i have a 2000 800 rmk that has sat for the past 1 1/2 years with little use and it starts but is a real bitch . took the air box off and blocked off the intake and it fires up and seems ok after that but a cold start requires the same method any advice is appreciated

I would check if your choke is working, might be seized up after sitting for so long. Would be a good time to take carbs apart and clean them and blow out jet passages and choke circuit.
