THE 163 does everything better. had a few handlebar deep days this year and its an absolute asset. handles no worse than the 154 and costs penuts to do from the factory but will cost you 2000$ to extend it later on. however it depends where you ride. if you sled anyhwere else other than the mountains i would suggest a 154 but if its just mountain riding your into then no doubt the 163. it climbs better, sidehills better, pops up on the snow better, doesnt get stuck as easy, tractors through the trees.

you know i was thinking of sno checking a 154 this year. Put a little challenge back into things. 163 does do everything better for mountain use but this year i am on the fence for trying something diffrent.

i find not a lot of difference in the trees but climbing to get to the next area the 163" is just so much nicer

The 154 handles way easier than the 163. We rode the Skidoo demo ride and both were on hand so were able to jump from one to the other. If anyone says they are the same they are nuts. The 154 takes way less input to react and is quite impressive in the soft stuff. Will it keep up to a 163 in a deep climb? No it's not even close, the 163 is way better suited to deep pow and climbing. Is the 163 a bear to handle? No it is quite maneuverable but not like the 154.

154 will be easier to throw around and better for jumping. 163 better for the deep pow days, breaking trail or sled sking.

all I have had is 163 tracks and loved them! until i got on the XM I'm gonna sell my 163 and go to a 154 I go to revy a lot and ride fernie and crowsnest a lot I love how well the 163 climbs but for me i'm more interested in real tight trees and catching some air on the sled. I watch my buddies on there 154's absolutely dominate when riding and even a friend on a 12 146 track just slays it. if I lived in Vale/revy I would do 163 because the snow is usually DEEP but for myself and riding all different snow conditions and riding types I think it's time for me to go to 154

Yes I own a 163 and it is nothing like a 154. If you like jumping playing in bush and riding aggressive you will like the 154 better. If you prefer the steep and deep 163 is your sled. There is a compromise in every length, figure out your riding style and decide from there!

Big question - what sled and length of track are you currently riding?
If you're currently on the '10 HCR or the '08 crossdresser, you should notice a HUGE improvement with either length of sled.

Question 2 - who's riding what in your group? Most of the old farts I ride with are all on older 159's. No need for anything longer than a 154 for me right now.

Spent a bit of time on a 163 last year and was really torn on which length also. New 154 this year, but there could easily be a 2015 - 163 snow check in my future.

Some of it depends on your riding weight as well. If you are under 180 pounds, a 154 will get you most places that guys over 200 need a 163 to get to. Not always, but depending on conditions it can make the difference.

A 163 will also climb flatter. It will tractor a little futher up the hill past the spot you would have wheelied the 154 out.

In the trees it can sometimes take a little more to spin a 163 for more technical riding. For technical riding I would almost run a 2.25" 163 because the 2.5" hooks up. 3 inchers, well, they just hook.

163 hangs it ass over the end of the trailer so I got a 154. Every one I ride with except one all run 154 and trust me when I say these guys all have no issues and to be honest we dig the 163 out more with no walking as our 154 can sled right up to him.

I hit the mountains 3-5 times a year the rest is ditch banging, ice fishing, messing about and never have an issue getting into trouble where ever I sled.

Anyone can correct me if I am wrong but it isn't to often you see guys with 154's install turbo's. You thinking of going that route in the future ask that question too.
