Generally speaking, the 700 Polaris sleds are bulletproof, the 2006 however is a little different animal. The 2006 700 (actually a 755) shares the same bottom end as the 900 RMK and is prone to a few of the 900s quirks. The sleds will still shake more than most due to the long stroke of the motor, but that isn't too big a deal. The cranks are not as prone to failure due to the decrease in power relative to the 900s, but it is still the same 30mm crank. The chassis is the same as the 900 also which means that the potential for weight loss is big, you can literally take 40 lbs off of these sleds with simple bolt on parts, many of which are highly recommended just to make the chassis more compliant. Another thing to consider is that the 06 700 motor (755) was only a 1 year setup, in 2005 it was still a big block in the EDGE chassis, and in 2007 it was turned into an entirely new (and better) motor in the Raw chassis to what it resembles now.

In conclusion, the 06 700 is just a little more mysterious than most because there were not as many of them. They seem to be a little more reliable than big brother 900 merely because of their smaller power out put. They are also a little more torquey than other 700s due to the long stroke, not a bad thing.

I hope that helps:beer::beer:

Ive heard more good things about the 7's then i have the 8's that bein said if i were buyin a polaris i would choose a 700 just cause WAY less updates and seem more reliable then the 800's ....

I run a M7 and i have more than enough power for my riding ability so dont be worried about power, 700cc will take anywhere you wan2 go and some places you prob shouldnt be.:d:d

I have a 06 700 RMK with around 8000 km and a 08 700 RMK with 6300 km. Neither have let me down. The 06 seems somewhat heavy on the front end. Didn't notice this until I got my 08 700. Both sled have been used on the flat lands and the mountains. No problems with the motors, belts other than having to replace starter this spring on the 06 700. I did also have to replace and install stiffer springs on the 08 700, back end was sagging.
